Intuition development

The path to develop your intuition is very simple: use whatever works best for you. Learning to relax however seems to be a pre-requisite, you can achieve this with meditation and just making sure you have some quiet time by yourself on a daily basis.

There is no need to be able to “meditate like a zen monk” or become a yogi, just follow some simple steps to chill out in your own time and your own space.

The easiest way to meditate I found is through self awareness and breath control.

This is not as complicated as it sounds, start by observing your breath, feel the air entering your lungs and just let it go gently. Observe that your lungs are working all by themselves without any conscious effort on your part, now fill your lungs by opening your diaphragm  and letting the air fill every part of your lungs, you will need to be sitting with your back nice and straight, hold it a bit, then let it out gently.

That is all you need to do, feel your body do the breathing and become aware of your body, how it feels, the smells around, sounds, taste and breeze on your skin. Just be in the body without any judgment or criticism, relax and observe.

Do not worry at this stage to control your thoughts or to try to eliminate them, just let them float along and come back to your body and your breath.

Learning to be in the moment is an easy way to relax, try it with your favorite cup of tea or even coffee, just savor every part of it. Feel the heat of the cup, smell the aroma, take your first sip and totally be in the moment of drinking your tea/coffee, you need to engage all your senses to fully appreciate the drink. Now observe that while you are engaging all your senses there is no time for outside thoughts, you are fully immersed in drinking your cup of tea.

Try this first thing in the morning if you can, it is a very positive way to start your day. This need not take long, fifteen minutes to half an hour should be fine, observe the thoughts that come to you straight after doing this exercise/meditation, if they are negative thoughts and worries, look at them and let them go. tell yourself that solutions are on the way. use affirmations if you need to turn your thinking around to a more positive approach.

the power of intuition

Intuition is something we are all born with, it is one of our given senses just as sight or hearing.

It is impossible to say that someone never uses intuition, we might not use our intuition knowingly but we do use it on a daily basis. How do we come to make decisions? We do not only use the rational mind, we very often use guesses, let me give an example: a while ago I was driving on a windy country road, there was hardly any traffic, I was going slightly over the speed limit, not enough to be reckless. As I was approching a bend my foot came off the accelerator and I found myself braking for no apparent reason, as I did so a large truck came careening around the corner and diseappeared into the night.

Had I not slowed right down I would have been in a serious accident as the truck was completely on the wrong side of the road.

Coincidence? I don’t think so, there was no reason to stop or slow down, it was simply an urge to slow down that I followed.

What is so good about using your intuition is,  the more you use it, the stronger it becomes, just like a muscle in your body.
